Book Contest Rules  - Vision The Skye in June Movie ~ Choose at least four characters listed below and cast your choice of actors to play them in a movie based on the book.  Read the characters' profiles. If J. Ahern finds that your casting call has good possibilities for starring your actor choice in the role, you will be sent a book and when the movie premiers, join in the fun. Jimmy MacDonald - From Glasgow Scotland.
Must speak Scottish, Glaswegian preferred - early 40's (ages to late 50's) Working class hardworking, hard drinking, quick-tempered man who is staunchly Catholic and very controlling of his family. . Quote: "Doomed to hell every last one of you."

Cathy MacDonald - From Glasgow Scotland.
Must speak Scottish, Glaswegian preferred30 (ages to late 40's) A pretty, meek woman who doesn't want to stir up her husband's temper. Seemingly devoted to her religion and children. Her biggest draw back is her depression. Can she show strength when her daughters need it? Quote: "We won't tell Daddy about this, okay?"

June MacDonald - youngest child in the MacDonald family. Some Scottish preferred. 8 to 17 yrs (two actors.) Born in Glasgow Scotland emigrates as a young child to San Francisco California. A red haired rambunctious and loquacious girl who is gifted with the ability to vision and know things about people without being told. Neither of her parents or the nuns at school appreciate June's unusual ways.  Quote: "You made Daddy not like me. You made me a pagan!"

Annie MacDonald - eldest of the MacDonald children. 12 to 19 (two actors) Born in Glasgow emigrates to San Francisco California. Stubborn as her father and responsible for caring for her siblings when Cathy is unable to Annie is as strong in her religious beliefs as she is loyal and devoted to her sisters. Quote: "Since when did you ever thank me for anything I've done for this family?"

Maggie MacDonald - 11 to 18 yrs. (two actors) 
Born in Glasgow emigrates to San Francisco California.The prettiest and most popular of the sisters  -  especially with the boys she places her interest before June's causing a rift in the sister bond. Quote: "Just smile at him like this. That's all you have to do."

Mary MacDonald - 10 to 17 yrs (two actors) -
Born in Glasgow emigrates to San Francisco California. Outwardly bold she appears to be a tough chick but only June sees the emotional pain and  lack of self-confidence in Mary who backs June up totally. Quote: "We could kill him. Then Mommy will let us go to public school."

Mrs. Gorzalkowki - Speaks with Polish accent. late 60's - An old Polish woman immigrant who survived WWII, she is the MacDonald's neighbor and June's first friend and mentor into the psychic realm. Wise and aware of people innately befriending and helpful to Cathy. Quote: "Always know this, June, my spirit mingles with your spirit, forever."

Sister Noel - 30 yrs. - A kind pretty nun with a South African accent. Compassionate to June's dilemma with the nuns because of the girl's psychic abilities. As June's 4th grade teacher she also becomes her private religious mentor and champion. "Try to fit in for now. Things will change for you later."

Sister St. Pius - 60 yr. - A tiny hardliner, old-fashioned nun she is often cruel to her students. As June's third grade teacher she zeros in on June's rebellious attitude toward Catholic teachings, making the girl's life a living hell in school. Quote: "You know what happens to witches? They are burned."

Brian Callaghan - 10 to 15 yrs. (two actors) - He lives with his sister, Jeannie, mother, Sadie and Bernice, Sadie's  lover. He and June's share unusual life situations which pulls them into a closwe friendship, creating a strong bond and
completely honest acceptance of each other. Quote: "Stop feeling sorry for yourself."

Granda B -
Must speak Scottish, Glaswegian preferred. early 70's. Glasgow Scotland. Cathy's father Willie Buchanan is a strong influential man in both his hometown of Glasgow and with his daughter's life. It's that influence that causes a rift between the two.  Like Jimmy, his Catholicism leads him.  Must speak Glaswegian. Quote: "You don't know how bad it was in my day with them Proddy's."

Granny B -
Must speak Scottish, Glaswegian preferred. late 60's. Glasgow Scotland. Cathy's mother. Kit Buchanan fiercely loves her family but is blind to her daughter's needs. A controlling mother only for the sake of keeping the family together, she says, but a doting grandmother. She and Cathy lose their closeness because of Cathy's past "sin." Quote: "You've no forgiven me, have you?"
